SAISD Earns National Financial Reporting Excellence Award for 20th Consecutive Year

For the 20th consecutive year, San Angelo ISD has earned the prestigious Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting (COE) award for meeting the program’s high standards for financial reporting and transparency. San Angelo ISD earned the COE for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) for the fiscal year ended August 31, 2025. The Certificate of Excellence is a national recognition awarded to school districts that demonstrate the highest standards of financial reporting and transparency.

“This recognition is truly a shared celebration for every San Angelo ISD employee who goes above and beyond to ensure integrity and transparency in all of our district’s financial operations,” said Dr. Merl Brandon, San Angelo ISD Assistant Superintendent of Business Support Services and Chief Financial Officer. “Earning this honor reflects our Board’s commitment to responsible stewardship and demonstrates that we are making the very best use of our taxpayers’ dollars. We hold ourselves accountable not only for student learning, but for achieving results in a cost-effective and efficient manner. This achievement is possible because of the dedication of many outstanding staff members, and we remain committed to upholding the highest standards of fiscal accountability for all of our stakeholders.”

Participation in the COE program underscores the District’s dedication to maintaining open, accurate, and comprehensive financial reporting. Submitted ACFRs undergo rigorous review by a panel of experienced financial professionals who evaluate clarity, completeness, and compliance with high reporting standards. Districts that meet these stringent requirements earn the Certificate of Excellence – a recognition that also supports bond rating processes and continuing bond disclosures.
