SAISD Applauds Data Services and Technology and Information Services Employees on National IT Professionals Day

Each year, the third Tuesday in September is designated National IT Professionals Day, a day to honor skilled information technology workers who we rely on to keep us connected. At San Angelo ISD, the contributions of two dedicated teams, our Data Services and Technology and Information Services employees, not only keep us connected but truly make a difference in the day to day lives of our students and staff.

Although the work of these SAISD team members is often behind the scenes, it is critical to the functioning of the District so that educators can engage all students in a relevant and inspiring education that produces future-ready graduates. 

The two teams oversee a multitude of projects from foundational and support work for systems like the Schoology Learning Management System that enabled our students to go virtual at the beginning of last school year and during the water crisis, to support for hiring and onboarding new employees, to technological support for innovation that positively impacts classroom instruction like the roll out of iPads to our high school students and educators earlier this school year, to complex data analysis and reporting that is not only required by the State but necessary to secure funding to support our students. 

In addition to the great work all year long, last night, the Data Services team was recognized at Monday’s Board Meeting by the District and SAISD Board of Trustees for going above and beyond to assist with registration and other important “Back to School” matters to help our students return to school this fall. At the Board meeting, Director of Data Services and Student Services, Dr. Jason Skelton shared how the Data Services team has a hand in just about everything the District does, providing an important contribution to SAISD’s overall success.
